Beat/Character-A-Day: Day 7

DAY 7 (6.27.2013)

This beat is just sounds really. Electronical chaos while the reversing a part of one of my favorite songs goes on in the back. I felt like a mad scientist, which inspired this green lil fellar. I was very inspired by Dr. Cortex, from Crash Bandicoot. Dr. Cortex is like one of the coolest evil villains ever.

Beat/Character-A-Day: Day 6

DAY 6 (June 24th, 2013)

Another beat collab with Robbin' Minds. We finished this lil snippet first, then the lyrics inspired the character. I immediately thought Mentok the Mindtaker from Harvey Birdman, and I just rolled with that.

DAY 5 (June 23rd, 2013)

This one was a special collab, both visually and musically. I made the beat on the way to visit a buddy in New York, and we both made characters inspired by the beat. Lum-Boone Jack & Bum-Loon Zack are the key characters in our folkish ballad.

Beat/Character-A-Day: Day 4

DAY 4 (June 22nd, 2013)

For this one, I was heavily inspired by the album "Mali Music" and my desire to visit Africa. About midway through the beat, I was reminded of this old no-named, Jamaicanish character I drew once in grade school. I redesigned him, gave him a tribal mask, and blessed him with the name "Deki Deki." I threw in a horn because I just heard that the western black rhino was declared extinct. =(

Beat/Character-A-Day: Day 3

DAY 3 (June 21st, 2013)

 

I was inspired by classic hip hop beats for this one, but with a rock twist. In spite of the garbage I hear on the radio, I tried to stay away from alot of fake, electronic sounds. Just keeping things fresh, like the freshest egg in the carton.

(There's also two old school hip-hop "easter eggs")

DAY 2 (June 20th, 2013)

 

For this beat I pictured a groom leaving his own wedding and going through all the different emotions while he goes from pacing to sprinting. I made him blue and a medieval-ish prince.

So I'm gonna start doing this thing where I make a beat and then draw character inspired by it (or vice versa) every day for the rest of the summer! Whoo!! I'm a little behind in posting, but who cares shut up.

DAY ONE (June 19th, 2013)

This beat made me envision a meek, elderly dessert traveler trekking through the hot sand with his loyal camel-ish companion. The camel looks like something out of the Herculoids (big influence btw)
